Watch: Python crosses a road in Kerala and stops traffic

Snake crossings on the road are not very common in Kerala, so it was only natural that when a python decided to do the same, a video of it went viral on the internet.

In the video, an Indian python about two meters long was seen crawling on the busy Seaport-Airport road near Kalamassery in Kochi. As the road sees heavy traffic in the evening, video recorded by passers-by showed people getting out of their cars and urging other drivers to stop in order to let the reptile cross in peace.

According to local reports, the incident happened on the busy stretch near the KSEB office around 11 p.m. on Sunday evening. The reptile reportedly took nearly five minutes to reach the other side of the road.

As the videos created a huge buzz online, it also sparked a lot of jokes. While some said the python must have felt like a celebrity, another joked that it looked like a royal feast.

Others also praised people for stopping their cars and not alarming the animal, saying there was a good chance it had been run over by high-speed vehicles.
