Dancing on Ice made headlines yesterday (October 4), when it was announced that John Barrowman would not be returning for the 2022 series.
With the list of famous candidates being announced, Barrowman’s replacement still remains a mystery.
However, whoever replaces him has to buckle up for what could be a bumpy race.
Here, ED! looks back on some of the show’s biggest scandals.
Dancing on Ice news: He has a curse just like Strictly
Strictly Come Dancing isn’t the only show with a so-called curse, Dancing on Ice has one too.
Coronation Street star Samia Ghadie found herself at the center of a storm when she was paired with professional skater Sylvain Longchambon.

At the time, she was dating actor Will Thorp, while he was with former skating partner Jennifer Metcalfe.
However, the two broke up with their partner – Sylvain reportedly broke up with Jennifer on Christmas Day – and gave things a chance.
And it’s a bet that paid off.
The couple married in August 2016, welcoming baby Yves together in 2015.
David Seaman and Frankie are also guilty
Football ace David Seaman was linked with professional skater Frankie Poultney in the series in 2008.
They were both married to other people at the time, but later announced the end of their respective marriages.
They married themselves in 2015 – and are still together today.
Dancing on Ice: Wes and Megan Curse Struck
Another couple hit by the curse were Love Island stars Megan Barton Hanson and Wes Nelson, after being partnered with Vanessa Bauer on the show.
Professional skater Vanessa broke up with her boyfriend and announced that she was single just hours before the concerts.
However, the announcement didn’t go very well with Megan.
She posted on social media: “Vanessa, I love that you decide to announce your breakup with your boyfriend the night of your first performance with my boyfriend.
“You never contacted me once or invited me to watch you practice, it pained you to introduce yourself to me last night, you didn’t even look me in the eye.”
“Hope the tactical break got you the headlines you wanted baby.”
The ladies eventually reconciled, but Wes and Megan separated two weeks later.
Caprice and Hamish’s Dancing on Ice rift
Another couple who broke up after appearing on the show were model Caprice Bourett and her skating partner Hamish Gaman.
This happened in week two of the 2020 series and saw Caprice swap partners from Hamish to Oscar Peter after making bullying allegations against Hamish.
She then left the show completely.
At the time, the model’s representative told the Daily Mail: âIt’s true that Caprice no longer participates in Dancing On Ice..
âIt has been a difficult few months and she has had to remain silent for contractual reasons.
âHis mental well-being has been affected over the past two months and the recent leaked articles to the press are not only salacious, but extremely hurtful.
“Now she is taking time to recover and take care of herself and her family.”
ITV said it had found “no evidence” of intimidation on Hamish’s part, with a statement strongly denying the allegations.
He said, âWe take our duty of care very seriously.
âWe have always been fully committed to ensuring that everyone involved in Dancing On Ice is fully supported and closely monitoring everyone’s well-being throughout the series.
“We are very proud of the brilliant team both on and off screen who put on a fantastic show every week.”
The statement added: “We take the allegations of bullying very seriously, but we have not found any evidence on Dancing On Ice and strongly refute any suggestion to the contrary.”
Dancing on Ice affected by the “fix” scandal
In 2007, the series was hit by rumors of a “fix” when the Vodafone telephone network declared that 11,500 votes were not cast because they were “not delivered on time”.
The Evening Standard reported that some voters received a message the next morning saying their votes were cast too late and that they had been reimbursed for the cost of their vote.
ITV, however, said it was an “isolated problem” which represented “less than 1% of the votes cast”.
The statement added: “With nearly a million and a half votes cast on Saturday night, these late votes would not have changed the outcome of any part of the competition.”
Gemma Collins vs. Jason Gardiner
The GC engaged in a heated slang match with Jason Gardiner when she signed up for the show in 2019.
Fed up with her blunt comments, Gemma hit back and accused Jason of “selling stories” on her.

Gemma then accused Jason of “harassing” her and targeting her with “personal” comments.
Jason consulted his lawyers after Gemma’s allegations and denied her allegations. He resigned later that year.
Karen Barber vs. Jason Gardiner
Jason Gardiner made headlines when he fell out with Dancing on Ice head coach Karen Barber in 2011.
She was one of the show’s first judges, but joined the coaching staff in 2011 – and that’s when she came to blows with Jason.
He humiliated her live with a jibe over her reduced role on the show.
After responding to his criticism of famous candidate Johnson Beharry, Jason said: “If your opinion still mattered, you would still be on the panel.”
Rising from her seat, she stepped onto the judges’ bench and an all-out row followed.
Later Jason said, âAll I can say is it’s a bad day at the office. Sadly, it was in front of millions of people on live TV, so it will always come back as a bad nightmare. It happens and happens again.
Dancing on Ice: Andi Peters separates with his partner Tamara
ITV frontrunner Andi appeared on the show’s very first series in 2006. He partnered with skater Tamara Sharp.
However, if his comments about Lorraine years later have anything to do with them, they haven’t left the ice as best friends.
âMe and my partner didn’t really get along. She called me Torvill and Dean like ‘him’.
“We were all on the ice and she was saying to Torvill and Dean, ‘Tell him he needs …’ and I was like, ‘I’m here! “
âMy partner was not great.
