Entertainment News: Love and Family

Kathie Lee Gifford is going to be a grandmother! Former Live with Regis host Kathie Lee and TODAY announced that her son, Cody Gifford, and wife Erika Brown are expecting their first child together. She celebrated the news with an Instagram post honoring expectant parents.

This is baby # 2 for Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger. The couple took to social media to share their pregnancy news. It’s their second baby together but a third for Pratt who also shares a son with her ex, Anna Faris (mom).

Achievements of the Gold Star

Kim Kardashian has shared some great news with her fans. She passed the baby bar and is on the way to becoming a full-fledged lawyer. The aspiring legal eagle admitted it took a few tries to pass the test, but she is confident to move forward.

Meghan Thee Stallion has a reason to celebrate. The Grammy-winning rapper donned a dress and cap and walked across the stage to accept her college degree. She attended Texas Southern University and now has a Bachelor of Science in Health Administration. She plans to fund an assisted living facility in honor of her mother.

NFL wide receiver Andrew Hawkins also graduated. He received his Masters in Sports Management from Columbia University. Hawkins led his class with a cumulative GPA of 4.0.

Crime and Punishment

The victims of Larry Nassar have reached an agreement with USA Gymnastics, the Olympic Committee and their insurers. The explosive $ 380 million compensation plan left the USAG in shock. Reports say the USAG is expected to file for bankruptcy following the massive scandal. Read the details here.

A controversial decision has been made in the trial of Ghislaine Maxwell. The courts have decided not to disclose the contents of the alleged child sex trafficker ‘s little black book and to name names. The case is still moving forward, with the prosecution starting to call witnesses on December 16.

Entertainment News: Illness and Injury

Sherri Shepherd (formerly of The View) was hospitalized this week. The star was operated on urgently after a diagnosis of appendicitis. According to her representatives, she is recovering and is doing well. However, she had to step away from her duties as a guest host on the Wendy William show.

It’s a triple threat of Covid at RHOBH. Production for the new season came to a screeching halt after Lisa Rinna, Erika Jayne and Garcelle Beauvais tested positive for the disease. TMZ reports that a crew member also fell ill. Fortunately, everyone was vaccinated so the symptoms were mild and everyone is fine.

Celebrity scandals

The Duggar family scandals have proven too heavy for Jim Bob Duggar’s election campaign. The reality TV star’s father lost his candidacy for the Arkansas State Senate in the primaries. Last week her son, Josh Duggar, was convicted of procuring and possessing child pornography and news of his daughter, Jana, was arrested in September on charges of endangering children.

Ben Affleck almost broke the internet after making headlines accusing his marriage to Jennifer Garner of alcoholism. The actor claimed he felt trapped in the union and that led him down a dark and watered path. Fans, enemies, and the rest of the audience gave him a harsh comparison with reality as to responsibility for his own actions.

Home Alone star Devin Ratray, who played Buzz McCallister in the films, is on watch for his role in a domestic assault. He allegedly hit and attempted to strangle a woman during an altercation at the Hyatt hotel in Oklahoma City. The police do not press charges.

Chris Noth has made headlines several times this week. First when Mr. Big had an unfortunate end during the cover of Sex and the City, “And Just Like That”, and again when his character was spotted in a Peloton commercial. Shakira brings her talents to NBC. The award-winning singer is teaming up with the network for a new series of “Dancing with Myself” competitions. Contestants will go through a series of weekly dance challenges until only one remains. The variety has all the details.

Entertainment News: In Memoriam

Iconic author Anne Rice died on December 11. She rose to fame with her first novel, “Interview with the Vampire”, and gained notoriety when the bestseller spawned the iconic film starring Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise. She went on to write 35 other novels during her decades-long career.

The ‘King of the Rancheras’ is dead. Legendary Mexican artist Vicente Fernández died on December 12 at the age of 81. The star rose to fame over a decades-long career, earning him three Grammy Awards, eight Latin Grammys and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

A mystery was solved this week when the remains of Frank “Frankie” Little Jr were identified. The former O’Jay guitarist went missing almost 40 years ago – around the same time, a body was found wrapped in a trash bag after being stabbed to death. Unfortunately, it took almost 40 years for the DNA match. TMZ has the whole story.

Famous celebrity manager Ken Kragen died aged 85 on December 14. He is well known for his time as manager of Kenny Roger and was the person who organized the charity single “We Are the World”. He died of natural causes.

Critically acclaimed author Bell Hooks has passed away. The revolutionary feminist writer, née Gloria Jean Watkins, was 69 years old at the time of her death. His works include over 40 novels, numerous films and a handful of rented children’s books.

90 Day Fiancé star Jason Hitch died on December 14 due to complications from Covid-19. He died with his family by his side in an intensive care unit at a Florida hospital. His family said he was not vaccinated and had no pre-existing health issues. Jason was part of Season 2 of the reality TV show.

Famous music producer Flow La Movie and his family had a tragic end this week. Flow, her parents Debbie Von Marie Jiménez Garcia and their four-year-old son Jayden Hernandez perished after their jet crashed. Eight other people were also killed in the accident.
