The famous long table had sparked an online meme fest as many users called it a hockey table as well as the last supper table. Before the war began, Putin used the long table when meeting German Chancellor Olaf Scholz as well as French President Emmanuel Macron.

France 24 reported then that the six-metre (20ft) long lacquered wooden table is officially being used to maintain social distancing between Putin and his guests in accordance with Covid protocols.

The 2.6 meter wide table top is white lacquered with gold leaf profiles and handmade decorations. It was made 25 years ago by an Italian company Oak, according to the Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera.

Asked about the online table mockery, Oak’s chef Renato Pologna was quoted as saying by the Corriere Della Sera“Yes, really funny. I saw that someone had made a swing out of it: great. Someone else put lap dance sticks on it. They even made a curling rink out of it. At this stage, we can say that it is a table that develops creativity.

Meanwhile, during Guterres’ visit to Russia, he called for creating the conditions for a ceasefire in Ukraine. However, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned Ukraine against provoking World War III.
