Michael Sheen: I’ve never had fun with drugs | Celebrity entertainment and news

Michael Sheen has never “had fun” with drugs.

The 52-year-old actor compared watching horror movies to consuming narcotics because they always had a negative effect on him, so he was always “careful” with both.

Asked about his favorite horror movies, he replied, “When I was younger I didn’t like watching horror movies because they really affected me. I couldn’t take advantage of it.

“It screwed my head up, basically.

“Which was pretty much the same with drugs – there was nothing funny about it for me, it just screwed my head and therefore my life too.

“So I had to be really careful with that stuff.”

Michael actually developed an appreciation for horror movies as he got older – although he’s not a fan of bloody movies.

He told Total Film magazine: “As I got older I started to watch and enjoy horror movies.

“But I’m more on David Lynch’s path than I’m the splash type.

“I like things full of dread. Because it reminds me of my life, probably.

The ‘Prodigal Son’ star recalled how he once got into a fight with a ‘lopsided giant’ on his way to dinner with fellow actor Sam Neill – but despite his disheveled appearance, his boyfriend didn’t ask him any questions about what had happened.

He said: “The last time I got into a fight was on the main street in Bristol, on my way to dinner with Sam Neill.

“I arrived with my clothes ripped off, blood streaming down my face.

“And Sam Neill, because he’s a gentleman, just said, ‘Are you okay? I said, “Yeah,” and he said, “Let’s go to dinner. “

“He didn’t once ask, ‘What happened to you Michael?’

“There was a lopsided man yelling at me in the street.

“I realized too late that he was out of whack, and a giant, with a set of golf clubs on his back.

“By the time I realized it was a bad idea, I had already hit it off.”
