Chris Pratt is set to voice Garfield in an upcoming animated film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 42-year-old actor is set to play the lazy, lasagna-loving tabby in an upcoming Sony Pictures feature film.
The script comes from “Finding Nemo” screenwriter David Reynolds and reunites with “The Emperor’s New Groove” colleague Mark Dindal, who directs the film.
Cartoonist Jim Davis created the adorable ginger cat for a comic book in 1978, and Garfield was joined by owner Jon Arbuckle and his pet dog Odie.
The mischievous kitten made his big screen debut in the 2004 animated / live-action film âGarfield,â which had a sequel, âGarfield: A Tail of Two Kitties,â two years later.
Chris is no stranger to voice acting, having previously voiced Barley Lightfoot in Disney Pixar’s “Onward” and Emmett in “The Lego Movie”.
And it was recently announced that the “Jurassic Park” star will be playing Mario in the new “Super Mario Bros” movie.
The American actor will play the iconic Italian plumber in Nintendo’s upcoming film – based on the legendary video game series – and Charlie Day will play Mario’s brother, Luigi.
Anya Taylor-Joy has been cast as Princess Peach and villainous Bowser will be voiced by Jack Black.
Other big names who will lend their voices to animated pieces include Seth Rogen in Donkey Kong, Keegan-Michael Key in Toad, Fred Armisen in Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson in Kamek, and Sebastian Maniscalco in Spike.
Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic will direct the film, and Matthew Fogel wrote the screenplay.
Announcing the cast at the Nintendo Direct streaming event, producer Chris Meledandri said in September: âMario and Luigi are two of the most beloved heroes in all of popular culture, and we are honored to have the unique opportunity. for working so closely with Shigeru Miyamoto and the very imaginative team at Nintendo to bring these characters to life in an animated film, unlike any other movie Illumination has made to date. “
