Bollywood Gossip : Sikh priests to examine Singh is Kinng
Monday, August 4, 2008
Bollywood Gossip : The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) Monday formed a three-member committee to screen Akshay Kumar starrer Singh is Kinng to see if there Sikhs have been portrayed negatively in the film.

We have formed a three-member committee of experts that will see the movie and based on their feedback further action will be taken, DSGMC president Paramjit Singh Sarna told agencies. The film is slated for release next Friday.

The DSGMC had sought a ban on the movie last Friday for allegedly ridiculing the Sikh community and wrote a letter to Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit asking her to ban the film in the national capital, despite the announcement by the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC), the apex religious body of the Sikhs, that it was up to the audiences to decide if they wanted to watch the film.

The DSGMC committee has two granthis (priests) Harnam Singh and Surinder Singh and Khalsa college professor Harmeet Singh, an expert on Sikh history.

Various Sikh organisations have voiced their concerns over the film, which is slated for release next Friday.

Sarna said: "The film's promos showed a Sikh character wearing a turban, while sporting a French cut. This is not a positive Sikh image. The screening should not be allowed until its makers make changes in the portrayal of Sikh character."

Raima denies she's seeing Yuvraj
Sunday, March 23, 2008
Bollywood Gossip : The actress is afraid that rumours linking her with Yuvraj will scare other men.

Raima Sen denies she's seeing Yuvraj Singh

Rumours linking the lovely Raima Sen with cricketer Yuvraj Singh have her embarrassed and scared. Embarrassed, because there's nothing to it. Says the spirited and honest actress, "These rumours linking me with Yuvraj are ridiculous. Just because we partied together in Delhi, it doesn't mean I'm seeing him, for God's sake. How provincial can the paparazzi get?"

So where and how did Raima meet Yuvraaj? "We met at the India Fashion Week chatted and were friendly. Bas, the Delhi media went berserk linking us. Trust me, there's nothing on between us. If there was I'd be the first to talk about it."

In fact, Raima Sen who was last seen in the dubbed Hindi version of the Bengali film 'Anuranan' claims there's no one in her life at the moment. "And if such baseless link-ups continue, no man would want to be linked with me. They'd think I'm already seeing someone."

Raima is currently focusing with full ferocity on her career. "I've some really terrific roles and films lined up including Aparna Sen's 'The Japanese Wife' and Rituparno Ghosh's 'Khela'. I've no time for love! And barely any time for family."

Raima has been in and out of Kolkata visiting her ailing grandmother, the legendary Suchitra Sen. "Fortunately, she's out of danger and out of hospital now."

Deepika Padukone may tie knots with Yuvraj Singh in 2 Years
Saturday, January 5, 2008
NEW DELHI: This could turn out to be the love story of 2008. 'Mr Sixer' Yuvraj Singh is dating Bollywood's latest heartthrob Deepika Padukone, sources close to the families say.

The sources, however, scotched media reports that the model-turned-actress had been invited to Australia by the cricketer, currently on tour Down
Under.

Deepika, they insisted, was in Sydney shooting for Yash Raj Films' next venture being directed by Siddharth Anand of 'Tara Rum Pum' fame, in which she is paired opposite Ranbir 'Saa-wariya' Kapoor.

A friend of the Padukones said, "Deepika is in Australia in her own capacity and the India-Australia Test match just happens to be taking place around the same time. But one thing is sure — Yuvraj and Deepika are dating each other."

Meanwhile, a source close to the Singh family told on Friday, "The two are very close to each other. In two years' time, if things go well, marriage could be on the cards. But right now, both of them are focused on their respective professions."

Incidentally, Deepika will be celebrating her 22nd birthday on Saturday, the crucial fourth day of the ongoing second Test match, and the pair is expected to be together for the occasion.

Earlier, Deepika's name had been linked with India's ODI captain, M S Dhoni. He had even invited the actress for the one-off Twenty20 match against Australia in Mumbai last year.

But lately, she has been seen with the dashing southpaw. Deepika attended Yuvraj's birthday party at Enigma, J W Marriott, on December 12 and that was right after the India-Pakistan Test match in Bangalore, where Yuvi struck a crackling 169.

In November, they were also seen together after the last match of the India-Pakistan one-day series.

The southpaw has run up a string of low scores against Ponting's Australia. In fact, he looked both ungainly and out-of-sorts on Friday, and fell cheaply to Brett Lee for a score of 12.

After India had lost the first Test at Melbourne without much of a fight, Indian team manager Lalchand Rajput was quoted in the media saying that senior players were upset over Yuvraj's attitude. The comments were later denied, both by Rajput and the team management.

Bollywood Gossip - I'm not engaged to Yuvraj, says Deepika
Tuesday, December 18, 2007
Deepika Padukone

Bollywood Gossip - First, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and now his teammate Yuvraj Singh. Budding actress Deepika Padukone is quite fed up and says reports about her engagement with Yuvraj Singh are not true at all.

'Please...this is the strangest thing I have heard, so far,' said a visibly disturbed Deepika.

The actress was Thursday evening declared the new brand ambassador of Swiss watch brand Tissot.

Asked how endorsements work for actors, she said: 'It works both ways. I mean celebrities connect the brand to the audience and the label connects them to the viewers, making them more popular.'

Deepika, who is the daughter of former world badminton champion Prakash Padukone, said sports works to de-stress her: 'I am very closely associated with sports. I have played games like badminton, basketball, tennis, throwball and baseball.'

'My favourite sport is swimming however, any type of sport de-stresses me. It takes my mind off work and makes me feel relaxed,' Padukone told IANS.

The newcomer struck fame with her debut film Om Shanti Om opposite Shah Rukh Khan.

However, she denies being bogged down by any kind of pressure of meeting expectations while picking up projects or in her upcoming movies.

'No there is no such pressure on me! Dad taught me to enjoy my work and till the time I do so I will face the camera merrily.

'I always wanted to do an action flick and I am luckily doing Made In China. Nikhil Advani is directing the film and I will share screen space with Akshay Kumar.'

Apart from Deepika, viewers will soon see Priyanka Chopra doing heavy-duty action in Love Story 2050 and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan swinging the sword in Jodhaa-Akbar.

Commenting on the trend of more heroines taking up action roles she said: 'This itself shows that with the evolution of the Hindi film industry women are getting to do more in films.'

Deepika also has Siddharth Anand's next in her kitty where she is paired opposite Ranbir Kapoor.

Bollywood Gossip : Deepika & Yuvraj more than friends
Saturday, December 15, 2007
Deepika Padukone

She is just 21 and doesn't want to get married and yet two of the biggest stars of Indian cricket team and her friends, Yuvraj singh and M S Dhoni are putting all their efforts to woo this doe-eyed beauty.

Intially it was MSD who invited her to a T20 cricket match against Australia but on this Wednesday when Yuvi hosted a birthday bash at the JW Marriott hotel Deepika Padukone was invited the special guest of the evening.

Cricket buddies Zaheer Khan and Ashish Mehra showed up while others kept away. M S Dhoni probably didn’t show up to save Deepika and Yuvraj the embarrassment of being in the same room as him.

As Yuvi cut a cake, the duo danced to Bollywood numbers and had a blast.

The on-lookers claim that Padukone, who is also being touted to be Krrish's next leading lady, played the perfect host at the event. She mingled with the guests as if she belongs to Yuvi's family. The duo looked more than just friends if their body language was any indication.

Though Yuvi's ex-flame Kim was also invited but she delibratly gave the event a skip.

“I didn’t remember it was Yuvraj’s birthday. If it was, I hope it was a great party. I’ve heard Deepika was part of the celebrations and if she was, good for her,” exults Kim.

Let's hope there is no tension in the Indian team owing to the Yuvraj-Deepika-Dhoni triangle.

The Next Super Star of Bollywood - Ranbir Kapoor
Sunday, September 23, 2007
Ranbir Kapoor , the son of Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh, is the latest Bollywood entrant from the famous Kapoor clan.

What better way to start one’s acting career than with a Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie? Yes, Ranbir has got a dream start to his Bollywood career. He will make his debut in Bhansali’s project Saanvariya , which also introduces Anil Kapoor’s daughter Sonam Kapoor .

Even as Ranbir is still busy shooting for his first movie, talks have begun to cast him in more projects. His dad, Rishi Kapoor, is looking forward to revive RK Films banner with a movie starring Ranbir in the lead role.

Rishi has already made a request to Rajkumar Hirani ( Lage Raho Munnabhai director) to direct a film for RK Banner. While Hirani has declined to make the film, he has agreed to cast the 24-year-old Ranbir in his next movie which will not be a Munnabhai series.

The film, yet untitled, will be Hirani’s take on the present day education system. It will be about striving to be successful, and how the joy of learning is gone in modern education.

Hirani is presently working on the first draft of the film’s script with Abhijat Joshi. The project will go on the floors in the first quarter of 2007.

On a different front, talks are on to rope in Ranbir and Sonam for the lead roles in the sequel to the yesteryear’s hit ‘Mr. India’.

The sequel will be directed by Nikhil Advani, the director of Kal Ho Na Ho . The film might also mark the comeback of Sridevi and Anil Kapoor .

However, the cast is still to be finalized.

In the meantime, Ranbir continues to grab headlines, partly because of his good looks and partly because of the compliments that keep coming intermittently from Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
