Bollywood News : Mumbai/ London (18 July 2008): Eros Multimedia, the Indian arm of Eros International plc (“Eros”), the leading London-listed Indian media and entertainment company, has entered into an exclusive two year output deal with India’s leading digital entertainment media company, Hungama Mobile, for the development, distribution and marketing of Eros’s music content for download on mobile phones.
Hungama Mobile will repurpose Eros content into desktop wallpapers, ringtones, games, song videos and other content that has appeal on the mobile format and monetise this content by distributing it to handset manufacturers such as Nokia and Motorola and mobile service providers such as Vodafone, Idea, BSNL, Airtel, Reliance, du, SingTel, Verizon, Rogers, T-Mobile and MTN.
The deal covers content from some major forthcoming releases from the Eros roster, including the modern day Aladin starring Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt and Riteish Deshmukh, Toonpur ka Super Hero, starring real-life husband and wife duo Ajay Devgan & Kajol, the much anticipated Kambakth Ishq with Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor, Salman Khan’s Veer and Freeze starring Neil Nitin Mukesh and Bipasha Basu. A venture which is currently under production, featuring Deepika Padukone of Om Shanti Om fame and Saif Ali Khan, will also fall under the auspices of the deal.

According to COAI (Cellular Operators Association India), the Mobile Entertainment in India is on the rise as it caters to a 300 million and growing mobile community. India is the 2nd largest mobile market and has had a massive adoption of mobile music, gaming etc through the largely youthful consumer community.

Commenting on the deal, Kumar Ahuja, Senior Vice-President of Eros‘s New Media & International Sales said: “Hungama Mobile is an established player in the mobile content distribution space and we are confident of the quality content and innovative products that it will provide to consumers. Through this association, we are looking to maximize the mobile distribution potential from our premium content. The deal allows us to achieve full visibility of our mobile syndication revenues for the next two years from our film slate”.

Saleem Mobhani, Chief Operating Officer of Hungama Mobile said: “We have been working with Eros for many years as partners on our portal, www.bollywoodhungama.com and this association of exclusive mobile entertainment content for their future releases until 2010 only strengthens this association. Bollywood News : Walt Disney Studios has acquired the home-video rights for Tare Zameen Par for the US market, reports Our Bureau from New Delhi.

The US entertainment major is looking at a mainstream DVD launch of the movie rather than just concentrating on NRI pockets.

As per sources, Disney acquired the rights for an estimated Rs 5 crore. Rather than dubbing the movie in English, Disney would release the movie with English sub-titles.

According to Aamir Khan Production (AKPL) and PVR Pictures, this the first time that an American major has picked up home-video rights for an Indian movie for a mainstream launch.

When contacted, an AKPL official said: "The film has done well on the overseas box office, especially in the US. Now that Disney is planning a mainstream launch for the movie in the US, we hope it does well in the home-video space too."

He added that the movie was picked up by Disney as it caters to children's issues.

The citation by the institute stated the Award being bestowed on Eros “for having achieved the enviable position of one of the best and most admired business organizations with its unparalleled performance. It is a matter of great pride that the company rather than resting on past laurels keeps pushing itself to achieve greater heights”.

Eros Music, a division of Eros International, the London AIM listed leading integrated company within the Indian media & entertainment sector released its first non-film album, music composer-singer Aadesh Srivastava’s Beyond Boundaries…Apna Bana Le. Eros marks its foray into the world of pop with Aadesh’s second non-film album after a gap of ten years.

With several Bollywood hits to his credit, the prolific music composer takes this tradition of touching people’s heart with his music a little further with his solo album. Aptly titled, ‘Beyond Boundaries… Apna Bana Le…’ for the maker feels music does transcend borders and nationalities. What makes the album unique is the versatile musician has not only composed the songs in the album but has also sung them all by himself with a variation in his voice in each song. India’s leading lyricist, Sameer, has written the lyrics of the eclectic mix of tracks with internationally acclaimed Remo lending able support with his trademark music – a fusion of different cultures and styles. Well… the catch is -- Aadesh has sung every song in, ‘Beyond Boundaries…’ with a variation in his voice. Yes, every number has been sung in a different voice. Eros International, the leading integrated company within the Indian media & entertainment sector announces an unprecedented opening of Shah Rukh Khan’s Om Shanti Om, produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and directed by Farah Khan. The film opened to rave reviews and advance bookings on the 9th November and has since grossed over US$19 million worldwide in its first week making it the most successful opening in Indian cinema history.
