Ahmedabad: The Kutch police have left for Mumbai and Bangalore to deliver bailable warrants issued against Bollywood actor Aamir Khan and four others for filming `Chinkara' in his movie Lagaan.

"The Kutch police will take help of police commissioners of Mumbai and Bangalore to deliver the warrants to Aamir and others," sources in the forest department said.

A Bhuj court had issued bailable warrants against Aamir Khan, director of the movie Ashutosh Gowarikar, Aamir's former wife Reena Dutta, executive director Srinivas Rao and photogrpher Ashok Mehta on March 27.

Chief Judicial Magistrate court had also directed all the five to remain present before it on April 15.

"The court has issued bailable warrants of Rs 5,000 for each. But if they do not remain present on April 15, the court can issue non-bailable warrants," they added.

One of the five persons, Ashok Mehta lives in Bangalore, while other four are from Mumbai and bailable warrants will be delivered to them by the police, sources further said.

Commercial filming of Chinkara, a Schedule I protected animal under the Wildlife Protection Act, without taking due permission is banned.

In the movie Lagaan, shooting was held mostly in Kutch, Chinkara footage was taken without the permission of the forest department, the sources said.

Following a fresh complaint filed by wildlife NGO Youth Nature Club, the forest department re-opened the case.

Thursday, February 21, 2008
f the trade mills are to be believed, then, UTV has repeated Ashutosh Gowarikar for their next project. When Bollywood Hungama spoke to Siddharth Roy Kapoor, EVP- Marketing, Distribution, Syndication, UTV Motion Pictures, he was very upbeat about the success of their magnum opus Jodhaa Akbar.

Siddharth said "It's a stupendous number actually, wrt to the Box-Office collections of Jodhaa Akbar. We are very, very upbeat about the sustained performance of the movie. We are all very proud and happy about such a positive reaction from our audiences, both in India as well as around the world." When asked about the initial apprehensions and the risk factors involved in making a historical saga, Kapoor said, "Obviously, you do consider many aspects very carefully in any movie that you commit to making. But in this case, we knew the capabilities of Ashutosh as a director. We also knew that if there was anyone who can translate the vision of Jodhaa Akbar onto screen, then, it's him. We were very confident about that."

Lastly, on UTV's next with Ashutosh, he said, "I would rather wait till we make a formal announcement about this together, which will happen in the next few weeks."

Bollywood News - Gowariker must change script: Rajputs
Sunday, February 17, 2008
Jaipur Feb 16, 2008 : Unwilling to give way, a Rajput group opposing Ashutosh Gowarikar's Jodhaa Akbar said it will not allow the film's screening in Rajasthan until he apolgises to the community and changes the script deleting portions of "distorted historical facts" from it.

"We will not allow screening of Jodhaa Akbar till the makers of the film submits a public apology for hurting the sentiments of the Rajputs," Karni Sena patron Lokendra Kalvi, told a news conference.

He further laid down the condition that "he must be ready to change the film's script".

He cited an NCERT plus-two history text book on 'Medieval India' by Professor Satish Chandra that Jodhabai was the wife of Saleem (Jehangir), son of Akbar the great, in support of their contention that the film distorts history.

"None of Akbar's 34 wives had the name, surname, nick name, or alias of Jodhaa. How could one change it now," Kalvi said.

Jodhaa Akbar : 15th February is final
Sunday, January 20, 2008
A number of stories concerning Jodhaa Akbar are doing the rounds of the industry. The topic of discussion is that the film won't make it on the scheduled date since the post-production isn't complete yet [it's currently in the mixing stages] and Ashutosh Gowariker is in no mood to hurry things up. Translated into simple terms, it means the historical might not make it on 15th February, the final date locked by Gowariker and UTV.

Another story [rumour] doing the rounds is that the dubbed Tamil and Telugu versions are likely to be delayed as well, since the makers would be keen to get the Hindi version in place first. Which means, the South version would be pushed ahead by a couple of weeks.

Absolutely false, Siddharth Roy Kapur of UTV sets the record straight, The Hindi version as well as the dubbed Tamil and Telugu versions will have the same day and date release. There's no question of a postponement now. I hope people stop speculating.

But what everyone's curious to know is the final length of this colossal historical. There're murmurs that the film will be of 3 + hour duration. Await the official announcement from Gowariker on that one!

Ashutosh Gowariker's JODHAA AKBAR to release on 15th February 2008
Tuesday, January 1, 2008
UTV Motion Pictures and Ashutosh Gowariker's much awaited epic romance 'Jodhaa Akbar' starring Hrithik Roshan & Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is slated for a worldwide release on 15th February 2008. The soundtrack composed by music maestro A.R Rahman and lyrics written by Javed Akhtar will release on 9th January through UTV's new record label UTV music.

The change of release date is due to the fact that Ashutosh Gowariker has been advised bed rest for 21 days with a severe back problem.

The director was scheduled to be in Chennai for this entire week to finish the background score of Jodhaa Akbar but could not move out because of strict instructions from his doctors not to travel.

Referring to his back problem Ashutosh stated, "I am sad that this had to happen in the thick of post production; it is unfortunate, but it has to be dealt with."

Jodhaa Akbar is a sixteenth century story about a marriage of alliance that brought two diverse souls together to find true love between the greatest Mughal emperor that ruled Hindustan, Jalaluddin Mohammad Akbar, and the fiery young Rajput princess, Jodhaa.
The film is produced by UTV Motion Pictures and Ashutosh Gowariker Productions.
