Bollywood Gossips - Roshans in Trouble!!
Saturday, April 12, 2008
Bollywood Gossips : The worst has struck Roshans. Music composer Ram Sampath, who moved court asking for Rs 2 crore as damages from the Krazzy 4 producers for copying his tune to compose four tracks, has won the legal battle today.

Giving its verdict on an appeal filed by 32-year-old ad jingle music composer, the Mumbai High Court has ordered the Roshans to remove the title track ‘Krazzy 4’, before it hits cinema theatres tomorrow.

Hrithik Roshan

Sampath, had stated in his appeal that the Roshans copied his 60-second music titled ‘The Thump’. The young composer had created the title for a mobile phone television advertisement last year and the Roshans had used the same tone in the title track of their upcoming flick ‘Krazzy 4’ without his consent.

Apparantly Roshans know that the stakes are too hish and their desperation was evident in court. Within hours of offering Rs 2 lakh per month to Sampath as ad-interim relief, the offer was raised to Rs 25 lakh and then “any amount that the court thinks appropriate”.

In the meanwhile the court instructed the Roshans to delete two songs if they want to release the film tomorrow.

"To my untrained ear, the music appeared to be similar", Justice Karnik, who listened to both Sampath's work for a Sony Ericsson cellphone advertisement, and the two songs composed by Rajesh Roshan for the film, said.

This means that Hrithik and SRK's Break Free item numbers will have to be removed from the film, which seems like a daunting task as the film prints have already been dispatchedfor the overseas release, as well as territories outside Mumbai.

Though Roshans’ lawyer Arif Bookwala pleaded the court not to stay the release of the film on Friday, Sampath’s lawyer Virendra Tulzapurkar said that mere monetary compensation would not suffice. “The SMS-s sent by Hrithik establish that they knew the music was not created by them. They have done this knowingly and deliberately.”

He added that his client was a “small time artiste” and needed to be protected when his work was plagiarised by such “big people”.

He also presented the opinion of Shiv Mathur, an independent expert, who confirmed Sampath’s allegation of plagiarism. Tulzapurkar added that the defendants were earning Rs 7 crore per month simply from ringtone downloads and Rs 2.5 crore per month from the sale of the music.

But Roshans' woes don't end here. We hear that their Krazzy 4 is a straight copy of the Hollywood film The Dream Team.

The posters of the two movies are similar and both the films are about four mentally unstable men and how they get out of a mental asylum to figure out that the outer world is as crazy as them.

In his defense, director of the film Jaideep Sen said that the similarity in the films is “sheer coincidence.”

Bollywood News - Himesh records his career's 75th song
Tuesday, April 1, 2008
Bollywood News : Composer-singer-actor Himesh Reshammiya, who debuted as a crooner with 'Aashiq Banaya Aapne' in 2005, has recorded 75 songs in just a record time.

"I've already released 50 songs. I intend to use the 25 songs I've in my music bank for the four films 'Karzzzz', 'Kajraare', 'A Love Iiisshtory' and 'Mudh Mudh Ke Na Dekh' that I'm starring in," he said.

In his forthcoming films he wants to introduce at least one new singer. Reshammiya feels he owes it to the industry.

"I think I must give new talent to the music industry because even I was a newcomer once. And fresh, untried talent always works since my music usually caters to younger audiences. They are always on the look out for fresh unconventional voices."

For 'Mudh Mudh Ke Na Dekh', which is a love triangle, Reshammiya intends to introduce new singing talent for the two leading ladies, Niharika Singh and Jennifer Kotwal.

"I came across some mind blowing female voices while I was judging 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa'. I'll be using these for 'Mudh Mudh Ke Na Dekh'."

Wait to be over - OSO's 'Deewangee' to be out on Id
Monday, October 8, 2007
Ever since the promotion of OM SHANTI OM began, all eyes were set on one song - 'Deewangee'. Clearly the best of the lot that Vishal-Shekhar have to offer in their soundtrack for this Farah Khan film, the song was much anticipated, also due to the presence of 31 stars in it.

Come 'Id' and the song would finally be all over the music channels with the teasers already making a round in the internet world. Just on hearing the audio, one got hooked to the song. A sure shot chartbuster which could well have been the opening number for the film's promotion, 'Deewangi Deewangi' is what qualifies as a trademark number which could have been lapped up by Yash Raj Films or Dharma Productions.

Singers like Shaan, Udit Narayan, Shreya Ghoshal, Sunidhi Chauhan and Rahul Saxena (heard in Indian Idol) ensure that there is not a single dull moment in this instant-attention-grabbing track.

Boasting of the innocence in melody that was witnessed in the 70s and now presented in the 21st century 'avtar' with a fusion of 'qawalli', 'bhangra' and western arrangements, 'Deewangi Deewangi' that also incorporates the sound of 'Om Shanti Om', is all set to lit up the screen when it is played.

The song also appears in a remix version which is termed as 'Rainbow Mix'. The other songs which have already been aired across all channels and have found instant appreciation are the love song 'Aankhon Mein Teri', dance number 'Dard-E-Disco' and the romantic 'Main Agar Kahoon' where Shahrukh Khan serenades Deepika Padukone.

Shahrukh & Deepika display clothes of Om Shanti Om
Saturday, October 6, 2007
Bollywood Actor Shah Rukh Khan, along with Om Shanti Om co-stars Deepika Padukone, Shreyas Talpade and Arjun Rampal, will soon be walking the ramp for a fashion show displaying costumes worn in the film.

Says director Farah Khan, “It’s a tie-up with Shopper’s Stop. On October 9, Shah Rukh, Deepika and the other stars will walk the ramp at a show at the Grand Hyatt wearing costumes from OSO. Shopper’s Stop will also launch an OSO clothesline based on the film’s unique look.”

Farah informs that two lines will be launched. “One will be a retro line inspired by the vintage costumes, while the other will be a contemporary line. Apart from being affordable, both lines are extremely trendy. Bollywood Actor Shah Rukh will wear the modern line on the ramp, while Deepika will wear retro outfits from the film. Arjun (Rampal) plays a producer in OSO, so his clothes are formal suits and leather jackets, similar to what Vinod Khanna used to wear back then. Shreyas wears shirts with pop art and stretched fabric!” she says.

Farah has got into brand merchandising with OSO in a big way. She says, “Brands like Maybelline have joined in to produce a line of make-up based on Deepika’s look (she’s also the company’s brand ambassador) and Sia for jewellery.”

Manish Malhotra, Karan Johar and Sanjiv Mulchandani have done the film’s look and styling. As for herself, “I won’t be sashaying down the ramp, Unless you want me to do the elephant walk!” she jokes, referring to her growing baby bump. Talking about SRK, she says he’s walked the ramp only once before for a fashion show in Delhi. “He was shy about doing it, but since it’s a professional tie-up he agreed to do it,” she says.

Govinda Srikhande, CEO, Shopper’s Stop says, “Being market leaders and innovators in retail, Shopper’s Stop has set many trends in the past. This unique association with OSO will surely set a new trend.”
