He also said Oscar-winning ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ failed to “touch” him.
Aamir, during CNN’s special edition of ‘Talk Asia’, was asked how he feels about being termed the new ‘King Khan’ after the success of ‘Ghajini’. He replied: “I had absolutely no intention of kicking Shah Rukh off his pedestal. Though I have to say, I don’t think he ever was on it.”
Elaborating, Aamir said: “In my opinion, the actor who I really look up to is Mr. Amitabh Bachchan. He is someone whose work I really like, a fantastic actor and the kind of stardom Mr. Bachchan has seen, none of us can ever hope to see.”
The 44-year-old actor, whose latest work, the Hindi remake of Tamil film ‘Ghajini‘, was a success at the box office, says he feels satisfied with his films only if they turn out to be as they are intended.
“You can never really tell until you see a film with the audience. How it is going to play with the audience. For me, what is important is that when I see the film once it is ready, has it turned out the way we wanted it to? If we have done that, then that makes me feel happy,” he said.
Aamir, whose own directorial debut film ‘Taare Zameen Par‘, failed to get nominated in the foreign film category at the 81st Annual Academy Awards this year, says that ‘Slumdog Millionaire‘ failed to “touch” him.
“I thought the movie was well intended. It was a very sincere attempt, but it didn’t touch me personally, and I suspect it because I’m not used to watching Indians speak English, all these slum kids talking in English… it’s strange,” said Aamir.
This episode of ‘Talk Asia’ will be aired on March 25, 2009 at 6 p.m. on CNN.

Lol I can’t believe how much this idiot is insecure and jealous of Shahrukh. It is the first time in 20 years that he has reached near the position of being a superstar and look at his ego. The success has gone over his head. Aamir a lot of people have came closer to superstardom since Shahrukh is working. First it was Govinda (1992 to 1996) than it was Salman (1998 since pyar kiya to darna kya to 2000) Than it was Hrithik Roshan. Than Akshay kumar and now u. He is, was and will be the king. All u can be is his Dog.
aamir is stil da best…no matter wot. yea shahrukh khan is “one” of the top actors but i dont think so shahrukh khan can be compared with aamir because amir is an all time hit dude!

How can anybody say Shahrukh is number 1. If we just take the number of films he did and number of hits, his average is very very less when compared to Amir. Yes he is a hero..he has lots fan following that is only the reason…even Amir could had more fan following but he never did so. Actors must be professional unlike Shahrukh who does more public stunts to impress people. Only ones work will be considered.
hey aamir has lost his head big time and the guys venting his pent up frustration of years. He will never ever in this lifetime see the widespread fan base that shahrukh is rewarded with. My work involves frequent international travels and any european and american destination i go to, shahrukh is representative of bollywood. Foreigners have instant recognition of him and his films. I am not just spewing venom on aamir as a dizzy shahrukh fan but aamir is the most concieted and opportunist actor ever. he shuns the media otherwise and licks their boots when his films are up for release. He admonishes award functions simply because he never wins and belives the whole process is warped coz he is the best and he alone is entitled to the awards glory. Aamir grow up, learn to handle your new found success with grace and stop making digs at your more successful peers. I know it is difficult to handle sudden success but your so-called perfection should help you here.

Well, I personally love aamir a lot and right now aamir is the best actor of bollywood. There is no dought about it. But he is not suppose to comment on shahrukh khan because he is also a great man and the sucess he has is remarkable. We cant say that aamir is egoistic only bcz he commented on shahrukh but if he wants to remain no.1 he should avoid all these silly matters. Apart from that, aamir has done wonderful work and has given fantastic films in recent years. All i love to say aamir is ” Just keep going n stay away form controversy”.

we ppl if its on acting then no match of Aamir khan or if its stardum then its surely shah rukh khan and here we need acting skills no drama type venture and by the way 40 and 60 movies has a bigger difference so think twice when the race is acting

This is pure jealousy. SRK has been @ the top from the day he stepped in to the Silver screen from Deewana to RNBDJ. If you look at the records every year since 1994 he had been at the top except for a yer or two in the early 2000! Aamir should get over his hunch. You may e good actor but you dont have the charisma or the connectivity the SRK has. He is the only actor in bollywood who can express emotion with his facial expressionsso well. You dont need Aamir to tell who is the KING> SRK fans world over is the answer.
